Meet The Team
Nathan Schroeder
Lead Pastor
Nathan Schroeder graduated from North Central University with a Bachelor's degree in pastoral studies. He began serving as a youth pastor in Berlin, WI in 2000.
In January of 2005, Nathan joined Highland Church’s team in Plover, WI, and accepted the position as Lead Pastor in June of 2015.
His true passion is to see people find, pursue and fulfill their God-given purpose and design. He desires to help Highland Church grow in love for Jesus and share God’s love with the community, on a daily basis. Seeing churches work together and helping new churches start are long term goals.
It was a dream-come-true to help Pastor Chris Mancl launch City Point Church in Stevens Point, WI in 2017.
Nathan and his wife live happily in Stevens Point. Their oldest son is married and studying for a Church Leadership degree at North Central University, while their younger son is in high school.
Nathan enjoys art, music, graphic design, vintage synthesizers, the outdoors (especially hiking in the Southwest) and hanging out with his family.
Laura Michalski
Children’s Pastor
Laura Michalski oversees Highland’s children’s ministries. Laura began ministering at Highland Church in June 2006 after graduating from Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Florida where she studied Christian leadership and communication.
Pastor Laura's greatest joy in ministry comes as she leads a team in building the foundational faith of children. Using her background in the arts and theatre, Laura regularly brings the truth of Christ to children in an engaging, interactive way. You may even catch her directing a stage full of young actors as they share Jesus in fun, creative ways.
As natives of Waupaca, Laura and her husband, Tim (Highland Church's Business Administrator), enjoy spending time with their two children, close to extended family and friends. In her few moments of spare time, Laura enjoys doing home projects and updates, baking, knitting, taking road trips, playing board games and time on the water.
Bob Stewart
Youth Pastor
Bob Stewart serves as Highland's Youth Pastor, overseeing students in grades 7th – 12th. Bob began serving at Highland in August of 2016 after Youth Pastoring in Colorado Springs, CO for over six years. Before that, Bob graduated from North Central University with a degree in pastoral studies. He has a true passion to reach students with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Besides working with the youth, Bob also manages tech and oversees Night to Shine. He lives in Stevens Point and enjoys running and spending time with his wife Melissa and their two kids.
Heather Wachsmuth
Worship Pastor
Heather leads a team of musicians who fill our services with uplifting worship. But that's not all – Heather is also a full-time accountant, balancing numbers and making sure things add up just right.
In her role as Worship Pastor, Heather brings her musical talents and leadership to create worship experiences for all ages.
Outside of work and worship, Heather is all about family. She and her husband, Ryan, along with their two delightful daughters, the oldest of whom is married and attending college at North Central University, enjoy traveling to the beach and treasured moments together. Their furry friends also play a big part in their home.
Heather's creative side shines too. Whether it's DIY home projects, knitting, hitting the road for adventures, or playing board games, she knows how to have fun.
